邢台是仰韶文化发祥地之一，有3500年建城史，是华北历史第一城，素有“五朝古都、十朝雄郡”之称。历史上有五多，典故多，以一当十、破釜沉舟、鹿死谁手等300多条成语出自邢台；事件多，尧舜禅让、胡服骑射、巨鹿之战、黄巾起义等一系列重大事件，影响了中国历史进程；名人多，先后涌现出医祖扁鹊、唐朝名相魏征、宋璟和元代大科学家郭守敬等历史名人。遗存多，至今还保存着普彤塔、开元寺、唐祖陵、邢窑白瓷等千年遗珍；姓氏祖地多，邢、李、张、井、南宫等30多个姓氏均发源于邢台。古韵悠悠，史迹煌煌，承载着邢台厚德之光。
