这块石头将近有一千年的历史

玉玲珑与苏州的冠云峰 杭州的绉云峰
Yu Ling Long (Exquisite Jade Stone), along with Guanyun Peak of Suzhou and Zhouyun Peak of Hangzhou,
并称为江南三大奇石
are known as the three most famous stones in the south of the Yangtze River.
曾经有记载
It is said that,
豫园的玉玲珑是宋徽宗赵佶的“艮岳遗石”
Yu Ling Long (Exquisite Jade Stone) was once a limestone relic of the region of Emperor Huizong in the Song Dynasty.
它具有“瘦 漏 皱 透”的外貌特征
The stone has the beauty of slender shape, mysterious water holes and wrinkles all over,
符合了我们江南文人的审美需求
which captures the aesthetic needs of artists in the South.
玉玲珑“以一炉香置石底 孔孔冒烟
“Burn incense down below and smoke rises through the holes,
以一盂水灌顶 孔孔泉流”
pour water from above and tiny stream cascades through the holes.”
当年豫园的主人非常的喜爱这块玉玲珑
The owner of Yu Garden liked this stone very much,
特地将自己的书房建在了玉玲珑的对面
so he built his study right across from it.
也就是我前面的玉华堂
That’s the hall in front of me – Yu Hua Hall.
