嘉荫是“中国第一龙乡”，我国第一具恐龙化石--“神州第一龙”发掘于此。在这里，您可以探寻神秘的恐龙世界，寻觅远古恐龙的足迹,领略壮美的真龙原骨。十余具完整的鸭嘴龙化石陈列于嘉荫恐龙博物馆中，300余种活灵活现的恐龙雕塑遍布园中。在这里，您可以感受独特的龙情龙韵。龙塔龙景、龙街龙灯，勾画出十足的恐龙小镇韵味，置身城中随处都洋溢着浓厚的龙乡情怀。

嘉荫是国家级特色景观名镇，界江、岛屿、峡谷、湖泊远近闻名。全国第三大河中俄界江黑龙江纵贯全境，渔歌唱晚、江水炖江鱼的惬意让你静享其乐。太平岛、新发岛依江而生，置身于此让您尽享自然之美。国家级森林公园茅兰沟，集山奇、水秀、林茂、潭幽、瀑美于一身，是我国东北为数不多的构造峡谷景区，被誉为“北方小九寨”。永安东湖景区山水交融、浑然天成，白桦丁香民宿铁锅火炕尽显北国风情。每年百万人次游客到访，充分展现了嘉荫的独特魅力。

嘉荫是国家级生态示范区，自然资源丰富，堪称一座绿色庄园。这里有142万亩寒地黑土，是国家生态农业示范县，每年5亿斤粮食供给全国各地。这里是小兴安岭余脉，有30万公顷的广袤森林，每立方厘米空气负氧离子含量近2万个，是一座天然氧吧。这里资源富集，盛产“三花五罗十八子”等近百种冷水鱼；蕨菜、刺嫩芽等山野菜20余种，黄芪、五味子等中草药160多种。嘉荫干豆腐、沪嘉面粉、富硒木耳等绿色食品，深受人们喜爱。

嘉荫是国家级文明县城，民风纯朴，人文底蕴丰厚。这里有鄂伦春民族聚居村，斗熊舞、篝火舞被列为省级非物质文化遗产。这里异域风情浓厚，与俄罗斯仅一江之隔，尖顶圆窗的俄式建筑随处可见，每年一届的中俄集体婚礼更展现了两国人民的深厚情谊。这里是知青挥洒汗水的第二故乡，千余名上海青年在这里历经了北大荒到北大仓的转变，知青园、知青公社仿佛还在诉说当年那段创业史。这里冰雪文化浓厚，每年一度的冰雪嘉年华活动让国内外游客流连忘返。
