It is a grassland city established based on "exploitation of the works of nature", as well as a modern energy-based industrial city "built by coal and flourished by aluminum". 

 

Hello everyone, I am Gao Jiye, Party Secretary of Holingol in Inner Mongolia. It is a great honor for me to introduce to you Holingol, a Top 100 City (County) in West China and a Grassland Aluminum City in China. 

 

Numerous Historic Sites with Profound History

 

In the course of history, monuments such as mammoth tusks, silicified wood and arboreal jade from ancient times have been left here, as well as the stone tools of primitive society, bronze tools of Western Zhou Dynasty, tombs of Liao Dynasty, boundary trenches of Jin Dynasty. It is a place where you can explore the mysteries of ancient life, experience the hard work and wisdom of the Chinese ancestors. The bronze culture of the grassland, the Liao culture of Khitan, and Mongolian Yuan culture originated and flourished here. Within the territory, there are high-quality tourism resources, for example, the 4A-level scenic spot of Khan Mountain, the primitive grassland of Eren, as well as the relics of Malaga Glacier. It is also the northern gateway to the 500km long Khorchin Scenic Avenue in Tongliao City. 

 

Fertile Land, Advantageous Resources

 

Holingol is located in the hinterland of the Khorchin Grassland in Tongliao. It is only 120 km away from the border between China and Mongolia in a straight line. Furthermore, it is located in the Northeast Economic Circle and the Bohai Sea Economic Circle, with convenient traffic conditions and remarkable location superiorities. 

 

Holingol is known for its industrial development, and boasts advantageous coal resources. The reserve of the coal field of Huolin River within the territory by detailed exploration is 12.55 billion tons. Over the years, an energy conversion strategy has been implemented in an in-depth manner, with industrial structure being constantly optimized to explore the high-quality development path of resource-based regions. It has gradually developed a modern industrial system based on coal, secured by electricity, and with aluminum and aluminum post-processing as the main body. The region currently has a capacity of 50 million tons of coal, an installed power capacity of 10 million kilowatts, 2.69 million tons of primary aluminum and 2.53 million tons of post-processing aluminum. The primary aluminum production capacity accounts for 7.5% of the country and 50% of the autonomous region. Therefore, it is evaluated by China Nonferrous Metal Industry Association as "the most suitable area for the development of coal, electricity and aluminum industry in China", as well as a "Brilliant Pearl" deep in the grassland. 

 

Stepping into the new development stage, while giving priority to ecology and focusing on green development, we'll adhere to the principle of "green stocks, high-end growth", attach importance to optimize and strengthen the post intensive aluminum processing industry, and make great efforts in the "refined development" of fields such as rail transit, lightweight of automobile, high-end aluminum foil and electronic 3C, so as to promote the diversified and balanced development of the aluminum industry. Meanwhile, positive efforts will be made on the development of the new energy industry, and accelerate the pilot construction of the national incremental distribution network. During the 14th Five-year Plan, the installation capacity of new energy will reach 4.3 million kilowatts, with a new energy consumption proportion of up to 35%. Holingol will also produce more aluminum with green electricity, and spare no efforts to be a green and low carbon aluminum-based new material industrial base in the norther part of China. 

 

Green and Environmentally Friendly, Embrace the Nature

 

We give priority to ecology and focus on green development, and have been continuously highlight the protection of ecological environment. in other words, we are creating values while preserving the nature. Over the past 4 years, Holingol has invested a total of RMB 4.2 billion in ecological and environmental protection, in particular, the Electrolytic Aluminum Flue Gas Ultra-low Emission Renovation Project has been awarded the First Prize of Science and Technology of China Nonferrous Metals Industry. Furthermore, we have cumulatively treated 41,000 mu of mine area and built two green mines at the autonomous region level. A total of 140,000 mu of grassland ecology has been repaired, and a national grassland natural park has been planned. With bluer sky, clearer water and greener mountains, on average there're over 340 days with excellent air quality per year in Holingol. Blue sky and white cloud have become the most remarkable ecological symbols of Holingol.
